Entry Pathways

Entry to university

UOW Southern Highlands offers a variety of flexible pathways into our degree programs. If you want to get a university qualification, we will help you find a way.

As a first step, visit UOW pathways to university site - whether you are currently in High School, a mature age student, or want to transfer from other tertiary studies, this site explains all of the different ways to get into university.

Below are some options relevant to UOW Southern Highlands:

In2Uni PATHWAY PROGRAM

UOW Southern Highlands is offering alternative entry through new Pathway Programs offered in conjunction with TAFE Illawarra and Wise Education.

Scholarships are available to cover tuition costs to complete a Certificate IV program commencing in February 2016. Pathway Program students receive additional modules while studying the Certificate - these focus on the academic skills needed for successful transition to University study.

Students successfully completing the Program are  guaranteed entry into a Bachelor of Arts, Business, or Commerce at UOW Southern Highlands.

The sponsored programs available are:

  • Cert IV in Retail Management with Wise Education - all classes completed on the UOW Southern Highlands campus
  • Cert IV in Business Administration, with TAFE Illawarra – Cert IV modules completed at the co-located Moss Vale TAFE.

INDIGENOUS Alternative Admissions

This program gives Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders access to our courses through an achievement test and an interview. The test examines literacy, numeracy and learning comprehension skills. Find out more about the Woolyungah Indigenous Centre or contact them (reverse charges if necessary) on 02 4221 5894 or 02 4221 3776

TAFE Tertiary Preparation Certificate (TPC)

The TPC is an option for people who wish to gain an equivalent year 12 qualification which will give entry to university. The TPC is offered by TAFE Illawarra at the Moss Vale Campus. More information about this course can be found on the TAFE Illawarra website or by phoning Moss Vale TAFE on 1300 766 123.

Special Tertiary Admissions Test (STAT)

Mature age applicants can gain entry to UOW via STAT which is designed to assess a range of skills and knowledge you will need for tertiary study. It is coordinated by the Universities Admission Centre (UAC) and held several times a year.
